Japanese-themed hotel opens in Davao City

AN URBAN Japanese-themed hotel in Davao City has recently opened Wednesday, April 19, to cater the increasing tourists in the metro. Strategically located at Anda St., The Aikiko House is perfect for backpackers and visitors (for business and leisure) on a budget.

"We envision the hotel to take the initiative and lead in the uplifting the quality of mid-range price hotel industry by way of providing excellent service, relevant, functional and modern hotel designs," Franklin Mariano, the owner of the hotel, said in a recent interview with SunStar Davao.

The four-storey hotel has a total of 30 standardized rooms with room rates starting from P 388(6 hours), P588 (12 hours) and P1,088 (24 hours). Each room boasts a modern Japanese minimalist style.

"The interior reflects the modern homely feel, a continuation of the Japanese style as perceived from the exterior facade. Each floor is color coded in primary colors of red, blue and yellow," he said.

All rooms are equipped with first rate room service, Wi-Fi, TV, hot and cold shower and air-conditioned units.

"The major plus factor we can openly say is the emphasis we put on the quality of design, customer service, welcoming atmosphere and cleanliness," he said. This month, the Aikiko House will offer discount on all rooms for all guests checking in.

The budget hotel, Mariano said was named after their two children Harriete Danielle "Ayie" and Adrian Francis "Kiko," thus the name Aikiko.

"In Japanese, the name also means to shine bright. We aim to be a player in the hotel business. With our professionally designed room, activities and services that are at par with international standards, we are positive we will definitely shine," he said.
