P2.5-B hospital to rise in Lanang

IN TWO years’ time, medical landscape in Davao City will never be the same as a P2.5 billion premiere hospital and medical resort will rise within Megaworld's Davao Park District in Lanang.
The soon-to-operate Lanang Premiere Doctors Hospital, Inc. (LPDH) will have its groundbreaking ceremony on March 14. The LPDH will have a capacity of 250 beds. LPDH chair and chief operating officer Lemuel Podador told reporters Tuesday, March 7, during the Davao Business Forum at Dermpath, SM City Davao, that the whole hospital will have an interconnected 12-storey, eight-storey and four-storey buildings.
The 12-storey building will serve as the hospital’s medical arts towers. Added feature of LPDH are its swimming pool and helipad area. The medical resort will have a total of one hectare development land area. “We envision the hospital to be a premiere medical destination catering to all markets.
We have a state-of-the-art medical facility, competent medical group and well-trained management staffs,” he said. Podador, who also owns PNS Land Corporation, added that the ease of doing business, growing population, and booming economy of the city made them decide to build the hospital.
LPDH senior vice president for Operations and Administration Conrad Adeva, Jr., for his part said, Davao is also considered as a strategic area for harnessing Mindanao market and Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East Asean Growth Area (Bimp-Eaga) as a larger economic area.
“Our direction is after we strengthen our presence here, we will target the Bimp-Eaga market through medical tourism. Philippines, in Asia, is still among those that offer cheaper medical costs, some 40 to 50 percent lesser compared to neighboring countries,” Adeva said.
Podador, also the owner of Tagum Doctor’s Hospital, urged other investors to build more medical facilities in the city especially those outside the downtown area.
Davao District Park, where LPDH will be located, is an 11-hectare township project of Megaworld Corporation.
