Aeon Towers quake ready
I.A CAMPBELL and Associates, the group that manages the construction of the 33-level Aeon Towers, assured its stakeholders that the tower has been designed to handle earthquakes.
"As you all know there has been an earthquake last week and our team has been crawling all over the building and cannot find any new or old cracks," said Ian Campbell, president of I.A Campbell and Associates, during the topping-off ceremony of Aeon Towers Tuesday, February 28.
At the sidelines of the event, Campbell said the structural design of Aeon Towers is based on the international standards for designing towers in earthquake prone areas.
"You have to design it in a way that the building has stiffness and flexibility," Campbell said. He said the ratio of the rebar, concrete, and the sizes of columns and beams all go together in the structural design of the building.
A topping off ceremony for the Aeon Towers was held Tuesday after the company reached the 33rd floor of the tower. Campbell said the tower now is 70 percent complete and they target to complete the building by the end of 2017 or early 2018.
Aeon Towers is a flagship project of the FTC Group of Companies Corp. The 33-level tower, which will soon be Mindanao's tallest building, is a mixed-use high-rise development featuring residential units, a hotel, and amenities.
