Construction of Dusit Thani Residence, Lubi Plantation fast taking shape

CONSTRUCTION of the Dusit Thani Residences and Lubi Plantation in Davao City and Mabini, Compostela Valley are going full steam with substantial portions of the island resort in Mabini operational within the year.
In fact, the restaurant, dayrooms, and function room at Lubi Plantation, a more or less 100-hectare property better known as Kopiat Island just a kilometer and a half across Mabini town, are already done and ready to welcome day visitors. A sneak preview of the property showed a 1920s plantation-themed development with high-ceilings interiors where even the details have been attended to. You will not find any electric fan there brandishing its brand, nor switches sticking out on walls.
“The other half of the beach club that will be done by the end of the year will look more industrial. The copra mill, the warehouse, the tennis court, indoor games, it will look like old warehouses. Our dive center will also look like that,” said Tomas P. Lorenzo, president of Torre Lorenzo, Dusit Thani’s Philippine partner in the property.
The Lubi Beach Club, open for walk-ins and day visitors, features restaurants, sports and leisure facilities, an exclusive beach area, and water sports activity areas aside from the children’s playground just beside the pool. Lubi Beach Club faces the mainland. A separate part of the property facing west will be the Lubi Resort Hotel, a 184-room internationally branded hotel for both members and non-members.
“Our villas, which we are building that will be done by the end of the year will look like guest cottages of the same period. It’s one theme,” he added. The villas and the hotel are on the opposite side of the property facing Panabo City. Over at the mainland, the Siam 8000 property composed of the Dusit Thani Residence Davao (the only Dusit Thani Residence in Southeast Asia outside of Thailand), a 168-room branded residences with studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom units, and the 120-room Dusit d2 Hotel, already has its foundation all installed and vertical structures are on the rise.
“At the beach club you don’t have to buy a share, you just have to pay as you enter. We noticed that a lot of resorts have day visitors but they don’t know where to put them because there are hotel guests there and there’s nothing for day visitors, so we have an area for that,” Lorenzo said.
Buyers of units at the Dusit Thani Residence can opt to use the island facilities for free, the same with shareholders of the Lubi Resort.
